Our mission at Purchase is to give each camper a Safe, Fun and Rewarding Summer Experience provided by Sensitive, Enthusiastic, Encouraging TEAM members who are recognized as the driving force behind the success of Purchase Day Camp. We strive to create a climate of learning and fun which will further the development of each camper socially, physically and creatively. We seek to help each child adjust easily to his/her group and strengthen values of teamwork, cooperation and sportsmanship. In everything we do, we encourage a positive self-image for each child while teaching skills in a variety of physical and creative activities. These objectives are pursued in a low key and spirited way free from excessive competition. Our concern is always for the camper's individual needs and personal safety. Throughout the years, a concerned counseling TEAM has achieved these objectives. This 200 member TEAM has had a remarkable continuity and is comprised of Program Coordinators, Activity Leaders, Waterfront TEAM Members, Counselors, Assistant Counselors, and CIT's. TEAM Members are encouraged to add their special skills and innovations to camp activities. All activity takes place on a beautiful 8 acre campsite. Our 4 swimming pools of various sizes, ballfields, archery range, mini golf course, creative playgrounds, nature area and tennis court are surrounded by golf courses and the rolling hills of large estates. Our building houses a gymnasium, auditorium, computer lab, woodworking shop, kitchen and various activity and locker rooms. The seven-week camp season officially begins on Monday, June 30, 2008. TEAM Members generally work from 8:15AM to 4:15PM Monday through Friday. Camp will not be in session on July 4th. A series of pre-season workshops and training sessions held in the evenings and a Saturday in the weeks before camp begins are required for all TEAM Members. Salary payments will be made 4 times during the season. A tipping policy will be permitted for the 2007 camp season. TEAM Members will be paid only for time worked. Purchase Day Camp expects its TEAM Members to be Sensitive, Enthusiastic and Encouraging with an excellent on time and attendance record. Criteria for employment never include consideration of an applicant's religious, racial, and/or ethnic affiliation, background or status. For more
than fifty years, Purchase Day Camp has served Westchester and Connecticut
communities by providing a full day camp program for approximately
500 boys and girls, ages 3 through 14. The Camp is located on Purchase
Street less than one mile from Manhattanville College and the Purchase
College, State University of New York.
